Brother Trucker Events & Catering

It’s been a great growth year for my catering division, continuing to pioneer using the truck (and occasionally 2) as the ultimate mobile kitchen for the on site feast!  We have done over 30 jobs over the course of the year, from 30-2000 people including a terrific multi-truck Summer Soulstice music festival we organized and sponsored with the good folks from Washington Main Street gateways in the South End, birthdays, graduations, clam bakes and company parties.  Some of the menus were culled from the GoFish! or Bone Daddy’s “Greatest Hits”, but most were custom designed to suit the occasion.  The wedding business has really soared, we did 7 top shelf weddings this summer from Truro on the Cape up to Lake Country in New Hampshire.  We’ve been exploring using a second truck for the bigger functions with tremendous results (179 people served in a record 16 minutes!).  I’ve added a sample wedding menu to the catering pages from one of the really beautiful occasions we had the pleasure of catering this summer.

News From Bone Daddy’s

Rich has been rockin’ the Burger world since we rolled out his awesome Bovine Bonanza in April!!  We got a terrific full page article in the Metro back in the Spring. We were filmed by Eat Street in August, look for the segment on the Cooking Channel this spring!!  We just were named one of the top 8 food trucks in Boston by Thrill and there is a brand new  interview/article out in Scene magazine.  Awesome work by Rich and the Bone Daddy’s crew, I miss Go Fish! (you never know, the Phoenix may yet rise from the ashes), but Bone Daddy’s is kicking some serious burger butt and I couldn’t be prouder of the success and accolades.

Brother Trucker Commissary at Triangle

November 27th, 2012 by David Stein

I’m pleased to announce the opening of Brother Trucker Commissary at Triangle!  It’s a shared use kitchen for Food Trucks, small Caterers, food service Start-Ups and Private Chefs needing space to jump start or operate their business. The commissary is part of the Triangle complex.  Triangle is a Malden Non-Profit dedicated to training and placement for the handicapped and I’m nurturing a win-win relationship with the organization, hoping to help employ the “participants” as prep help for my truck and catering, and making their capable services available to anyone sub-licensing space who is interested.  I have kitchen facilities, dry goods, refrigeration and freezer space, equipment, parking and a supportive, fun but professional atmosphere.  The commissary, located at 420 Pearl St. in Malden, is convenient to rt 93, rt 1, 7 miles from downtown Boston and easy access to the restaurant Depot, propane and numerous wholesale purveyors.  24/7 secure access.  Call me at 781-298-1526 or email the website for a prompt response.

Of Trucks and Fish

May 12th, 2012 by David Stein

Its been a whirlwind year. Yes, a year!  The fact that I’m looking back and still moving forward is a victory in itself.  Go Fish was at the Greenway Food Truck Festival last Saturday.  It felt like the unofficial opening day of the Summer 2012 season.  There was a real feeling of excitement in the air, and of camaraderie amongst the Truckers, of shared enthusiasm and optimism for the new season, of pride in work well done and challenges met.  And there have been some.  The winter was long and slow, we all reached deep for the resources, both fiscal and mental, to get us through.  Go Fish has been steadily building a reputation for the quality of our food, and a strong following.  The Food Truck movement in Boston has taken solid root and is getting well deserved attention.  This spring, really from April 1 on, has shown great promise; long lines, return customers, a buzz in the press. . . The good folks at Food Truck Festivals of New England have a slew of Festivals scheduled around the region through October, there are a lot of one-off events on the books, and Brother Trucker has booked a substantial amount of catering, weddings and events which allow me to spread my fine dining wings, and use my portable kitchen in other creative ways.  Perhaps the most exciting new growth for me is the opening of Brother Trucker Commissary at Triangle (420 Pearl St, Malden MA) on May 1.  In order to operate a food truck or catering business in Massachusetts you have to be operating out of an inspected, commercial kitchen.  This is one of the “hidden” expenses of the food truck industry, and one which is under-served in the Greater Boston Area.  I have partnered with Triangle in Malden, assuming operation of their cafe and food services, and taking over their commercial kitchens which I can then use for Brother Trucker, and rent as shared space for other Food Trucks, caterers, private chefs etc.  The location is terrific, just 15 minutes from the center of Boston, with great access to many suppliers (Restaurant Depot, 4 bakeries, produce markets . . )  The access is 24 /7 and I hope to employ the mentally and physically handicapped whom Triangle, a non-profit, trains and places in the workplace, to prep and clean for the trucks.  Its a real win-win situation for all involved.  If any of you Go Fish/Brother Trucker fans know of someone in the food business needing commercial space to work out of, steer them my way!!  I’m trying to build a really positive, creative workspace and business incubator for the Food Truck and catering community.  Stay tuned, I hope to have more time to keep you all updated on the exciting world of Fish and Trucks!!!
